I had this brilliant idea that a list of galleries that handle woodturnings would be a fine column to present in More Woodturning from time to time. I went out to a list of E-mail addresses that I had and sent letters to most of the woodturning clubs asking for a list of galleries in their area that handled turned wood items. I got only one reply. From it, I realized what I had done. You don't ask people for a list of their customers, it just isn't done! Well, anyway, I still think its a pretty good idea. So, I went to the GTE Superpages on the Internet and asked for a list of galleries with wood in their name. I got a listing of 90 names and addresses in four categories: Art Galleries and Dealers, Arts and Crafts Galleries and Dealers, Craft Galleries and Dealers, and Museums. I've gone through the list and culled out the ones that looked like the owner's name was Wood, or they were back in the woods, or the like. What's left, I merged with a list of galleries that I'm pretty sure handle turned wood and I'm presenting this combined list here for your possible use. No guarantee that these places all handle woodturnings, but its a place to start. If you have feedback on this list, or wish to add a name to the list, please let me know. I expect to publish this list occasionally, either as it changes, or as we have added a significant number of new subscribers. In any case, I would appreciate any feedback, good or bad!
